Feel free to ignore. I am in a need to rant mood. LOL So yesterday I posted about not having enough time in the day to get stuff done. Which of course sucks, but whatever, I have always finished everything I need to do, maybe just not when I was hoping to get it done. LOL Such is life.

What totally makes me cranky and wanting to throw this damn computer out my patio doors are days like today when NOT. ONE. DAMN. THING. IS. GOING. RIGHT.

Finding a picture I need on a stock photo site. Nada. Fine, whatever, I will look later with different search terms once my blood pressure returns to normal. So I open up the next project. Making a banner for a new advertising campaign that is only a few days away since a slot is open. I make the banner, partially animated, and when I save it it looks like shit. More time wasted, time I don’t have since there are already not enough work hours in the day as it is.

So with everything I have done and worked on today that has not turned out the way it was supposed to I figured I wasted a good 5 hours. And when I say I cannot afford to lose these 5 hours I mean it.

Ugh. Why today. On a day when I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to kick ass working and get a large portion of my ‘to do’ list done, why is nothing working. It’s frustrating beyond belief.

Rant over. Back to work. LOL

I am sure I am not the only one with this problem. Not enough hours in the day to get everything accomplished, or at least make a dent in the ‘to do’ list. Mine is ever growing. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my business, and what I am doing but there are some days I just wish I could get ahead just a tiny bit.

I have been freelance writing for a long time. I have done some ghost writing for a New York Times best selling author, whom I had no idea was one until a year after he became a client. Needless to say, when that information is out in the open it adds another level of stress to the quality of writing. Due to the crazy busy nature of the publishing industry I have not been actively seeking new clients for a while. My repeat clients however are well taken care of. When they request articles, or whatever other content they need I get it done, whether it’s written by me or one of my freelance writers it gets done.

There is also a nice steady flow of submissions that have been coming into Blade. Some of them are wonderfully fantastic, while others, not so much. LOL

Anyone who has done any sort of marketing knows that this is the most time consuming thing ever. While following the regular methods of marketing is fine, it might not get you great results, but the effort is there. For myself, I like to think of new and different things, and none of what I have thought of is a quick and easy marketing method. So while the ideas are kick-ass (if I do say so myself), they are also time consuming beyond belief. At the time I thought, awesome idea, I can have this done in a couple weeks. Yeah right! It’s over a month later and I’m not even half done with the research. LOL So now we are back to OMG there is just not enough hours in the day.

I have ‘to do’ lists, and work schedules with the items broke down into hours, but there is always something that happens to throw me off schedule. Most often family stuff. LOL So with days interrupted or days when the little man decides he doesn’t want to nap I am up working till 3, sometimes 4am, just so I don’t fall farther behind in what needs to get done.

It is possible to love what we do, yet gripe about it at times. We need to be able to complain and not feel guilty about it. Since nothing in this world is all sunshine and roses, why pretend it is. So gripe away and on the days when the daily ‘to do’s’ get done, it’s all that much better.

You read the title correct. I have a new best friend and his name is Sony eReader.

The other day when the big man and I were at the mall I had to take a detour into the Sony Store to see this beautiful thing and perhaps touch it if the salesperson allowed. It’s small, it’s sleek, and it made my heart go pitter patter. I fell in love instantly. Curious as to the sales, since this little beauty has only been available in Canada since July 9th, I asked him how sales are. His words were, “we can’t keep them in stock.” Of course hearing that made me happy because that means that more people are turning to digital books. Yay for epubs everywhere! So the big man asks the clerk if there are any in stock and of course the answer is no, but he looked in the computer and said 2 other stores on the opposite side of the city were showing stock. We said thank you and left to finish our shopping.

Nothing else was said about the little beauty we left behind, we sat and had a snack in the food court, big man and little man are ice cream addicts so anytime there is an ice cream shop near we have to stop. LOL Now I know big man had some errands to run that day. He just bought a new/used motorbike that needs some work so there have been frequent trips to the bike shop for parts. Chit chatting in the Jeep I wasn’t paying much attention to where we were going and then realized that we had just crossed the river, which only means one thing, we are going to the opposite side of the city.

The big man is very supportive of my working online but has always wished there was things I could do for work away from the computer. Now that the Sony eReader is available here in Canada I could load all the Blade submissions on that and read them away from my computer. That was his reason for driving over to the other side of the city, 45 minutes each way, to buy me the Sony eReader so that I didn’t have to do all my business while sitting in front of the computer screen. Talk about a good day.

What they say about the Sony eReader is true. It is exactly like reading a book. It is so crisp and clear, and you can adjust the size of your font.

When I work I need some kind of noise in the background. While I am completely and totally addicted to the food network it can at times be distracting. When the distractions start I turn to the movies I have set aside for background sound. These are some of my favorite movies and ones I have seen too many times to count. The movie in my DVD player right now is Under The Tuscan Sun. I love, love, love this movie but I hate the book.

I am the type of person if I read a book and the movie comes out I have to see it. I had no idea when I watched Under The Tuscan Sun that there was a book, so of course once I discovered it, I was off to the bookstore in search of this treasure. I have never been so dissapointed in a book before, EVER. I know the book came first so I should be venting about the movie but since I watched the movie first I can vent about the book. LOL

The only thing the book and the movie have in common is the name and that it takes place in Italy. That. Is. It. So the movie gets played over and over and the book ended up in the “donate to the library” pile.

So if you have seen the movie I do not recommend reading the book. It will just make you angry. LOL

It is mid-afternoon and the temperature is still +30 C. Part of our deck is now in the shade so I filled up my little man’s swimming pool and he is playing in the water as I type this on my laptop while sitting in my lounge chair. The outdoor speakers were hooked back up last weekend so I have all my favorite cd’s in the cd player. To me this is the perfect Saturday. :) The only thing I don’t like are the spiders. I have always had a fear of the damn things and this year they seem to be everywhere. But with such a nice day the outdoors is the only place to be.

While I have a lot of work that needs to be done, and a folder full of submissions that I have to read through I had to stop here and make a quick post. Like most things Internet related, blogging can be somewhat addictive.

So have yourself a great weekend!
